Location: plant earth | I would say a few things factor into that. Water temps norm, average, above average. Next would be the weather pattern being past, present, and future. Then the water clarity stained, clear etc. then. Weed growth in the avea if app. Then the forage in the lake you want to try to resemble something the fish are eating. You just gotta go out and hit the water and let the fish show ya by what works. Something that works in semi shallow weed end of the lake may not be what the fish on the other end may want. Top waters, blades, gliders, would be a good start. Then again this is muskie fishing. Good luck

| august is the time to start checking shallow sand areas on the metro lakes, especially during cooldowns like we have this weekend. topwaters, bucktails and phantoms are all good baits for the shallow bite. |
