| My Cabelas Size 27 AGM battery is 5 yrs old and will not keep a charge past 8.7 volts I'm told I've got good yrs from it. Looking at replacing it with same or if something out there is better. Have a Minnkota 60lb thrust trolling motor. That is the only thing drawing power from the battery. The charger I use is from cabelas (pro sport single bank 6 amp). Last time I charged the battery I kept it on for 2 days and it seems the battery was not hot but warm to the touch. Is that an issue with the charger susc as overcharging. (it is suppose to be a 3 stage charger in the end just a maintenance mode. Maybe it is bad. Anyway looking for recommendations for a new battery and charger. Thanks |

| Stay a way from dual pro. I just had a couple bad experiences with dual pro. (Breaking just after the warranty expires. That happened on three of there products). My minnkota 345 is now 6 years old and still works perfectly. I have a guest that is 3 years old. My buddy like the new cabelas one ( couple years old now).
For batteries, because I have to let mine freeze ( or I just to lazy to pull them out) I go with sears diehard platinium. Super expensive but the best warranty in the business. I have had to test it twice. If it doesn't last 3 years you get e new one for another three year warranty.
My two cents |

| If you got 5 years of good use, then I'd stick with what got you here.
I always got between 4 and 6 years out of my Remy wet cell deep cycles. Best charger I had was a Guest 3 bank. 10-10-5. Minn Kota makes a very good charger. Dual-Pro is what comes on Rangers, and I've never heard any negatives.
If your batteries freeze in the winter, they weren't fully charged when you put the boat up. The cold is actually better than putting them in a warm place, as it reduces the rate of self discharge.
