I want to install hydraulic steering on my 2004 TR186 Triton bass boat and this morning I measured what I think I need for hose length. It was around 14' without a lot of slop. Has anyone install hydraulic steering before and knows if its better to have longer hoses then needed or try to make them as taunt as possible?

You can't make them longer if you are wrong. I think most dealer rigged boats have some slop.
