Been new boat shopping in the 16-17ft range. I've been looking more at bass type but after mentioning it to my wife today I was informed it'll be a deep v, to be abit more small child friendly. I haven't got to see one in person but I'm in love with the new Fury 1625 XL. I really want the SS model to have the full enclosure for winter time which is when it'd probably see the most use, but I'm worried about it being in the way for casting and such. I haven't fished in one with full windshields like that before and it isn't a huge boat. What do you guys think? Room is important but after running 50mph+ down the winter water in a bassboat, an enclosure sure sounds nice, especially for trolling striper in between muskie trips.

Full winshields are nice but in a 16' boat might steal to much room for more than two people. It' give and take! Plus with a max 60 Horse you won,t have to worry about 50 MPH.Probably 30-35 max.Nice boat! GL

Part of the question is the size of your front deck. If you have a boat with a longer front deck, you might be able to get away with the Windshield. However, IMO, at that size of a boat the most likely answer is you will not like how much space it takes up. I've been very happy with my side console when it comes to fishing out of my boat. (1750 Fish Hawk) I wish I had the Windshield when I'm jetting around the lake in MN in November, but I'm sure glad I don't have it when I'm actually fishing.

setting rods down on the rod box will be an issue if they cant get past the side counsole on,the passenger side. the windshield will make boat control less friendly on windy days. keeps you dryer and warmer on cold windy days.

I'd go side counsel. You can lay your rods down on the passenger side and you won't have to give up that valuable space. Now if you were going 18' or bigger, walk through would be nice.

Your wife and kids will appreciate the full windshield. I went thru the same dilema a few years ago. Our secratary heard me talking about buying a boat and suggested the full windshield for comfort ( I was looking at the lund predetor). Makes it nice on those cold mornings or heading for the dock with a storm coming and starting to rain. I found a used 18' lund fisherman for a great price and really like it. I did not think I wanted a deep v but was reminded about the grand kids. I really appreciated it when we got caught 6 miles away from the dock in 4' rollers with a big storm on our tail! You will be more likely to talk her into more boat with a deep v and full windshield.

I have a full windshield on my Crestliner 1700. It will only be in the way if you are trying to flip side-arm - otherwise, it's the way to go if you are going to have the wife, kids, etc. on board.

Sold my mr pike and went to a tyee due to same dilema, sick of getting wet and cold and full windshield was more kid friendly
