| I'm looking to get some longnose pliers, should i get the straight or bent ones? Do the bent ones have more leverage when removing the hook? | |||

Posts: 1901 Location: MN | In my opinion yes the bent ones offer much better leverage. I use the 45 degree bent ones, 11"

Posts: 906 Location: Canada | Here are the release pliers I have been using for the last few years or longer. I like them so much that I own two pairs, one that goes with my Muskie stuff and the other with my Pike gear. They're not cheap but well worth owning at least one set for Muskie fishing the design of the jaw on these pliers allows you to get a good grip on the shank of the bigger sized Muskie hooks or the more forward opening in the jaw is smaller which is great for grabbing at the hook arms. http://www.snapon.com.tw/admin/uploads/product/product_1__274_b.jpg http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?search=true&item_ID=636971&...

| I use 11" bent nose (45 degree) pliers and they work perfect. To remove a hook, I lift the fish out of the water just a little and twist with the pliers. The body weight usually pulls the hook out. IMO, there is something about the 45 degree angle that makes it easier to do. Brian | |||

Posts: 55 | Bent nose work great. Had a real good pair that my buddy dropped to the bottom of Cedar Lake....thanks for the reminder that he owes me a pair. His only comment after the water splashed was "Hope you weren't to attached to those" .... what a jerk!

Posts: 56 | If you can get on a MAC tool truck, they carry a nice set of 16" straight and bent longnose pliers. I believe they are @$30.00. Lifetime warranty. But prob does not cover lost in lake.

Posts: 307 | Been using the snap on ones pictured above for over a decade. By far the best pliers made for unhooking Muskies period. In my opinion just as important as knipex.
