Guys,

I plan a trip every year to Cass Lake for myself and about 7 other guys and would like to start a traveling trophy for the largest fish. I was hoping I could get some ideas from everyone on the trophy and where I could get one.

Thanks

Doc

I always like traveling trophys that include a fruitcake. Stay with me on this one.....fruitcakes are nearly indestructable; with a half-life of about 10,000 years, they'll outlast you and most of your subsequent lineage. Whatever you do, include a fruitcake.

You are a "FRUITCAKE"[]

Try getting a hold of Worrall, get a nice wooden fish made up!!!!

Doc,

Just a thought that popped into my head....

Have all 7-8 of you pitch in and buy a top of the line rod-reel combo. Not the usual St. Croix and Abu Garcia, but something that you may not have.

Whom ever catches the biggest fish gets to keep the rod and reel for the rest of the year and fish with it.

We do the exact opposite on our trips. We have a traveling shirt. Whoever is currently on the longest streak between legal Muskies has to wear the shirt. The shirt is ugly. It is one of those "Bass Professional" shirts. The ones with patches all over them.

Whoever ends up with the shirt at the end of the trip has to add one patch to the shirt.

Right now, Ryan has the shirt.
Rob is next,
Then me,
Then Chris.

The shirt isn't real ugly yet, because it is only two years old, but you can imagine what it will look like in 10 years.[:p]

This is the shirt in its early years. Like I said. In ten years, it will be ugly.

For some reason, the shirt is good luck. Whoever is wearing the shirt is almost always the next one to catch a legal Muskie.

Yes, Ralph, I'm a fruitcake. Frankly, being silly and fanatical musky fishing habits keep me from going nuts. They are two elements in my survival strategy. For good or ill, Budwieser doesn't work anymore.

Hope your chat went well the other night, I missed it due to kid duty.

Love the shirt idea, Setme! Of course, it won't last like a fruitcake, but it's still a clever idea.

Definatly check out the stuff the Worral boys are doing. This would be a trphy worth hangning on the office wall for all to see and the winner can brag about.

Worrall's son makes some really really nice plaques for $60.

I'm w/ RANGER...FRUITCAKE! Still chuckling on the history of that one....
Actually , I liked the old canned fruitcakes that came in C rations; bet Capt Larry did too! You could drop one down a mortar tube and do more damage than a live round! They were tasty though, and given their half life, no doubt they were from WW2! [:0]

Hey Doc,

Here's an idea that a group of buddies have been using for the last couple of years. My friends father passed away and we re-named our yearly tournament the "George Swenson Memorial Musky Tournament". We had a plaque made up with that wording on a template in the middle of the plaque. At the top left of the plaque, there is a 4"x6" piece of lexan with one of George's pictures behind it. A template in the top/middle with some verbiage about our buddy George. Upper right has another piece of 4"x6" lexan. Behind this one goes a picture of the winning fish for the year. At the bottom of the plaque, there are 15 smaller templates. The winning fish/angler for the year gets engraved on the template. It is really cool and professional looking. I had it done at Brogan's in Gurnee.
