Looking at possibly heading up to the Hayward area over 4th of July Weekend. Looking for a good musky lake as well as a lake that has good fisheries in other species. Thinking about either on of these 2. Anyone have any thoughts on these two lakes or can you recommend some others. Need lake with camping availability. Thanks.

Andy

Andy, for camping try Reel Livin' Resort in Steamboat Bay on Lost Land . Not sure if other resorts have camping or not.

Reel Livin Resort, 12467 N. Reel Livin Dr., Hayward, WI. 54843 (715)462-3822

Fishing is good there for all species. Bucktails, Topwaters, Twitchbaits, Chopbaits like Suicks are what has worked for me up there. I like natural color patterns. Teal is more fun to fish than Lost Land in my opinion but its all good water. Nice Bass and Walleye available. Panfish run smaller but decent fish can be found.

Like all lakes though, sometimes the fish are hateful. If boating fish is paramount, then trailer off to another lake if action is slow - there are many nearby to choose from including Ghost, Chip Flowage, Moose, etc.

You may want to consider a guide as well. Try John Myhre - he has a resort on Moose (Sportsmen's Lodge) but guides many lakes up there including LL/Teal. In fact you may want to contact him about staying there if you aren't set on LL/Teal. I am not sure if he has camping or not.

There are also primitive campsites on Chip Flowage islands. First come, first served I believe.

There is a camping resort on lost land but not teal. They are nice lakes and can have good action. I would suspect they would be busy on the fourth. There are a few nice fish but expect them in the 28-40" range. Some nice bass and walleye too. On teal don't be surprised if a giant sturgoen jumps or is seen near the boat. Not alot of them but they can scare the living ^&#$^& out of you. Fish the cabbage and you will do ok. Pike are getting bigger too. Good luck.
