You can copy waypoints to give to friends to use with their own chips.

I've heard they have a hack guard on them that if there's an attempt to hack it the card will become useless.

If they are like the Humminbird Lakemaster chips you can save your waypoints and routes to a separate sd card.
You can then use a program called GPSbabel to convert the file to load to another device.
Works great.
