Muskie Fishing -> General Discussion -> Lake Vermillion

Subject: Lake Vermillion

With our vacation sign up going around at work some possible fishing dates are coming into view and was wondering of I could get an opinion on them for fishing Lake Vermillion this summer. The first is July 11-13 and the other is Aug. 16-20. Also any time in September will probably be open for this person low on the seniority list. Those of you who fish it regularly, which of these times do you like best? What could one expect during any of these time periods? What are some of the arguments for choosing any one of the dates over the other. Thanks for all the feedback.

We went up end of August last year and had good luck. Caught some big pike and walleye, as well as muskie. Also, saw a few large muskies that looked like torpedoes lurking around.
Big V is a great fishery.

Andy,

That time in July can be great. I was up there the week before and did well. The group that came in after we left did even better. If you decide to go in July, drop me an e-mail and I can fill you in on some details. Good luck.

All of those times can be good on the Big V. Local weather patterns
will determine which is best.

I like July for numbers and late in August is my favorite time of the season for big fish.

September can be unpredictable do to changes in weather and water temps.
I think the best thing about the fishing in September, is there is nobody on the lake.

In my opinion the best time to be here, is any time you can come. [:p]

No matter when you decide to fish
Vermilion, I promise you will not
be disapointed. It's as close to being in Muskie Heaven as you can be.[]
