Ok, so I have an update on the lures that I made and I know you are all anxiously waiting for it. LOL! So the results are mixed and I think I know why but I would love to hear what you all think.
I made 4 lures total and all were similar in design (one was smaller but the other three were almost the exact same) but all had different style and size lips. I think my problem, besides moving the eyelet closer to the lip, is the smaller lips were too small for the size of the lure. In the picture there are 3 lures, the top two had the best action and they were the ones with the bigger lips. The third one in the picture (the unfinished one) and the one not in the pic had action but not nearly enough for my liking. At first I was very disappointed with my results but after thinking about it, 50% success rate for my first time I can live with.
My question is: Can I “screw and glue” a bigger lip over the smaller lips that I am not happy with or do I need to remove the small lips somehow and replace it with a big one then re-apply the clear coat? I know it might not look real pretty but at this point I would be happy to make function better so I can use it? I am afraid that if I try and remove the small lip I will do some real damage and not be able to use the lure at all. Thanks for your help guys!

You may find that when you move the line tie down, you may not need a bigger lip...or you still might need to upgrade it. I would move the line ties first and then move on to the lip if that doesn't work.

We've all had lures that didn't work and changes needed to be made. I've had the same issue with lips. I am always pushing the edge of how small of a diving lip I can get away with. I fish very shallow rivers and like my crankbaits to run shallow. If you need to replace the lips, I've had success cutting them out with a bandsaw. First, I cut the lip off as close as possible to the body. Then, I just run the bandsaw down the middle of the remaining lexan and slowly cut it out. If you're careful, you should be end up with an acceptable lip slot to work with. Your first run of baits is always going to be a bit of an experiment. I say you did pretty well!

Cut a larger lip, tape it to those lips, cast them a couple times to test, at least get an idea before you remove them and half to repaint. Whether or not your first baits work, always try and learn something from each build. You can easily move screw eyes, patch the holes and touch up the paint and throw a coat of clear on. But as I say, try the lips first, just enuff to see.
