Don't ever hang baits with hooks on them from the ceiling in your basement workshop. I was in a hurry getting some last minute rods done for my trip to Tony Grant's next week and I hung some baits where they didn't belong. I put them in a spot strictly reserved for new painted baits to hang before getting clear-coated. So much for being in a hurry- I wasted 2 hours running to the Dr's office to get it cut out!

I figured you guys would get a good laugh out of my stupidity.

Dude, don't you have a set of Knipex cutters? Lol. I would have at least cut the rest of the lure off before going to the Dr.'s office. Ouch.

I also have been hooked twice, but both were because of thrashing fish.

That sucks man, Hook in the head, not good! lol...

The KVD video is pretty funny, they also show you how to remove hooks easily as well though. Worked pretty well as far as I saw, its a good trick to know

Jeremy I had that happen the same way 3 years ago.

I ran downstairs to grab some new baits to use that night for the fall walleye bite. I reached up to turn a lure to see the side pattern thinking not to use it and quickly turned to run upstairs. As I let go of the lure it caught my thumb. The whole weight of my body in motion set the hook and then the fall back jerking back double set it. VMV barbian hook right into the bone. 3 hours at the hospital and 2 weeks of antibiotics.

I had a second one also. I daisy chained some together because I ran out of hangers. It caught my shoulder in and out. I was able to clip the barb and push it back thru.

Hope you are feeling better!
John

Jeremy

That sucks, I wish you a speedy recovery.
I ended up wearing a large jimmy bait across my face a couple years ago when my buddies rod backlashed. Good thing I had my rap around glasses on. The hook barbs just pierced my face but didn't lodge. My buddies did think it was pretty funny as I had a welt with the exact imprint of the lure left on my face the rest of the week.
I'm going to my shop right now to take the ones I have hanging down.

I have done the same thing as you Jeremy but not with my head. But I have hooked both hands hanging them the same way you did. I stopped that quickly .

Next time someone asks you what your favorite bait is, grab that one and say, "Ya know... it doesn't look like much but I caught a big'n on this one!'

Sorry to hear about your wows. Wish I could say that I've never been there

Was fighting a fish several years back and had the lure pull out and the hook burried in my ear. The scariest part about it is that it was 1 inch from my eye. I wasn't wearing sunglasses but always do now!
