Posts: 89 | Looking for a guide on eagle in mid august. Not going to be at steves, so i'm on the search. Will be in the central area of eagle. Prefer a guide with a good musky background. Anything will be great, thanks! Six months and counting, can't wait!

Posts: 1767 Location: Lake Country, Wisconsin | Most of the guides you would want to hire are working directly out of resorts but I'm sure some would be able to work with you if you get ahold of them early enough. I would contact two places...North Shore Lodge and also Bobby's Sport Shop (807-227-2099) and see what they suggest.... You have to be kind of careful, some places will refer you to Native guides that live up the road and a lot of them have really poor concepts of current tackle and techniques and are not worth the money. Seen some people in the past throw away some solid cash by going that route and it is not worth it.....

Posts: 89 | im staying at south shore lodge. The inlaws planned the trip, so this a first going to this resort. Went to steves last year, had good fishing and would've went back. I need to talk to gord more about his guide. Just quessing hard to compare to steves. i just want to be prepared.

Best guide on that central part of the lake is Bradley, who guides for temple bay. If you call ahead of time you may get him for the day as most of those resorts are struggling with customers. I will be up first week of August at island lodge. Been staying and fishing this area of the lake for years. Lots of big fish!!

Posts: 306 | I'll be your pseudo-guide for August on central Eagle: Get in the boat, drive 10 min in any direction to the nearest boulder the size of a car, point, saddle, or remaining weed bed in 7-10' of water and throw some Double 8/10s, B-Flats, Depth Raiders or Bulldawgs at it (in that order). Pray for luck, and make sure you are ready to figure-8. There ya go. Please send check to... Ha ha. Not bad-rapping the guides, but that's pretty much what they'll have you do on central Eagle in August. But, you'll likely start the day with a 45 min ride to Boulder Bay, passing 20-30 suitable spots along the way.
