| Okay, so i spooled some 50lb tst line(for the first time) to my reel today(little anxious for the spring season, yes your correct-o mondo). Is this okay for the 3oz and under "spring-time" lures? Also, imo such a dramatic difference between the size of the braid of the 80lb vs the 50lb. Hoping the' ole' line won't wear or break prematurely when that musky hits in spring. Ya know how that goes when you change the routine up eh? Thanks for the help! |

| We are getting anxious here! IMO I would stick to the 80lb test just for the reason you were asking about. I don't think it will make that much difference. Except for the fact that 80 will not backlash or bind as much or hard as the the 50lb. If anything, in spring I use smaller leaders like Stealth spring leaders or Stealth flouro leaders. But that's just the way I like to do things, others may have different ways. |

Location: Wisconsin River | I do that in spring when I am using an ultra fast bass reel to burn small baits. you can improve casting distance with lighter line. Now there are thue musky size reels that will do this with more line capacity |

| I run 50lb ob my rattle bait rods and I spooled a couple reels with 65lb for smaller cranks, spinner baits etc. I will use 80lb when I start throwing double 10's and dawgs. I feel the 50lb and 65lb is easier to cast than 80. I use suffix 832. |
