Thinking about hitting Cass Lake or Leech lake this summer in late July or August. The last few years fished Vermillon and looking for something different. Leaning more towards the Cass Lake area, looks like if I wanted to do some lake jumping there are more lakes around. Any suggestions on resorts or which area you would choose would be helpful. Thanks!

I was on Cass from July 28th to August 4th last summer (full moon on Tuesday I think it was). Water temps were really high. Whitefish/ciscoes floating everywhere. Everything in the area except Cass and Leech was over 80 degrees or right there. We stayed on Cass and that ended up being the only lake I fished. Fished with Cochran one day. I lost a dink and he caught 2 low 40"s that night within a couple casts of each other. Only saw a couple other fish. I did raise a 50" on one of the last days. Had another up shortly after that in the figure 8.

Posts: 41 Location: PA | Fished both 10-12 years or so ago on the PMTT. Spent a week at both places. I personally got a little bored on Cass. 100,000 + acres on Leech can keep you entertained for years.Did not find the need to jump around. Got nice fish both places but loved the big water. Leech would get my vote.

So is Cass a slow lake or do you have a chance at multiple fish a week

You have a shot at multiple fish on Cass. The main lake has some community spots and some that you wont find unless you have them marked. Find a small area of cabbage on the main lake and you will find muskies. Lots of 48in fish in Cass. It is personally my favorite lake in the area to fish.

Still have family around Cass just need to get up north more. I am not much help on resorts, i stay at my little brothers when fishing Cass.

Posts: 772 Location: Ames, Iowa | I would hit Leech in late July or August. That's when it's on and then again all of Sept. If you're looking for resorts there PM me.
