Hi All, I just finished up my first batch of Molly Diver cranks for release.  The bait has a 9.5” long body length and is over 10” with the lip.  The weight is around 3.5 oz.  The bait has a slow rise with 3/0 round bend Mustads.  It will dive to 8’ on a cast and will troll to 10’ with 100’ of line out.  It is made from a hand poured 12lb density polyurethane foam.  This gives it a density halfway between balsa and cedar.  The bait has a hand formed closed loop through wire weighting harness and a hard epoxy finish.  All craftsmanship is guaranteed. No video is available at this time, but they work like a good crankbait should.  This batch I’m bringing to the Milwaukee show in a couple of weeks.  I plan to make one more batch before springtime and am now starting a build list.

Sweet looking baits Mike!! How deep do they run? Look like they'd be a great St. Clair bait!

Wanna trade

What booth will you be in for the Milwaukee show? I'd like to pick some of these up, and don't want to miss them.

Excellent work Mike! I will stop by and say hi in Milwaukee.....and purchase a few of these bad boys. If they are half as successful as the Molly has been for me I will love them.

Thanks very much guys.  We are in booth 110a; it’s a half deep booth along the wall the bar is on towards the boats.  We are looking forward to it!  If you like to original Molly you’ll like this one.  It’s the Molly bait grown up, she’s a little curvier, she goes down deeper, has more wiggle in her walk, and you can really feel her pumping through your rod…

I was lucky enough to “test” a proto of this lure. I really liked it. The pattern I had was very similar to that purple cisco pattern shown above. It has a lot of flash to it with just a straight retrieve which you don’t get with a lot of cranks like this. It kicks around nice when jerked. I was getting 6-8’, maybe deeper, on a cast with jerks incorporated. So if you wanted to get deeper on a cast you can by eliminating the jerks, or at least how many you do.

I do have video of it from my GoPro, but haven’t gotten to downloading it onto my computer yet.

Look for this to be a great bait this year!

Mike I will need a “set” of these guys! I’ll contact you about it. I mention it to make sure you don’t sell all of them as I don’t think I can make it to Milwaukee.

Thanks much guys.  Next on my mind for development is going to be a 10”-11’’ version of the MDR Chopper.  I want to do a three hook version out of the hand cast polyurethane or resin material.  I like being able to do everything at home and focusing on custom builds/paint jobs.  I’m thinking about discontinuing the injection molded Molly Baits and MDR Choppers.  No worries, I have a couple/few years of blanks built up.  After that in a year or so I definitely want to do a 6”ish version of the Molly Diver, after that maybe a huge one.

Wish I was going to the Milwaukee show! I would echo what TK said about this bait and add that it's a little different from other baits in this class of cranks and sometimes that makes all the difference.

Great paint on these Mike!!
