Posts: 7 | Wondering if anyone has ever broken a telescopic rod (newer Musky style or heavy bass casting) due to the retractable section? I work in the industry and sell a lot of them... Some come back broken but never due to the telescoping aspect. I personally LOVE telescopic rods and wish more manufactures made them...

Posts: 347 Location: eagle river, wis | swapped all my Loomis rods for Okuma telescoping rods and now have 12 of them.Never had an issue and I like that they fit in any vehicle and rod box i have.I would rather spend the money on good reels then on rods. jeff

Posts: 4343 Location: Smith Creek | In my opinion? No. But there might be someone out there besides LD who has had an issue. Anyone? Most blank builders reinforce the heck out of those sections so breakage is a very rare occurrance in the joint section, from what I've seen.

Posts: 494 Location: midwest | MOST people are never putting that much pressure on a blank to see the issues that Larry Dahlberg is showing in the video. After all these are Muskies not Marlin!! I personally don't care for telescopic rods myself because of past issues with the ferrule getting stuck (on bass sticks) and the fact that nothing is lighter/stronger than a one piece rod. I deal with the issue of not being able to any of my muskie rods I own in my boats rod locker. I will however be modifying my boat's rod locker this year to accept the rods I choose to use.

Posts: 347 Location: eagle river, wis | the rods in the video didn't load the same. The second rod was way stiffer and would not allow the blank to bend where the first rod did.

Posts: 4343 Location: Smith Creek | cave run legend - 1/14/2013 1:08 PM Everytime I have used one the rod alwaya rotates and my guides are not straight. A little nose grease or paraffin where they seat will solve your problem.
