| I'm thinking of taking a job in Brainerd, MN and was wondering where the nearest/best musky water is. I know there are some 'big girls' in Mill Lacs but was wondering if there are any smaller local lakes. I've heard of names like Cedar lake and Alexander. How about rivers? The Mississippi runs right through town? My first musky was caught on a family vacation on Leech Lake, only a couple hour's drive. Any local recommendations would be appreciated.  |

Location: Waconia, MN | If good musky fishing in the area is a determining factor in whether or not you take the job, take it! You won't be disappointed. I love the Brainerd area and wish I could live there. |

Location: Otsego, MN | Mille Lacs, Shaminau, Alexander, and the River are your choices. Some day the DNR will hopefully be able to stock some of the other sweet lakes in the area, that would grow absolute monsters. Gull Lake or the Whitefish Chain will hopefully be stocked someday. |

| Best shot at big fish is Mille Lacs, Leech, and Cass. If you are just looking to catch a fish, hit up those smaller lakes. Baby is a good numbers lake. Wabedo and Little Boy can be good too.
