Any idea what would be the closest musky lake near South Haven, Michigan? I know there is very good fishing not far away in Indiana and near Detroit but I am specifically looking for any info for lakes (if any) very near South Haven. Thank you and Happy New Year.

One of the closest lakes would be Round Lake. Not a lot of huge fish in there, but it has a little action. If you want the needle in a haystack giant, hit up Lake Macatawa. Or the even bigger needle in a haystack giant, hit Lake Michigan. LOL. Thornapple is still 1 1/2 hr + drive from South Haven.

Round lake has a good population in it but mostly smaller fish, I did see a 48 incher come out of it two years ago. Bankson lake is also in VanBuren county with Round but it gets a LOT of pressure. Long lake in St. Joseph county is very close as well and is a very good lake for muskies and some huge bass.

Only problem with Bankson is the locals love the taste of muskie meat on the grill. They love the smell of them rotting on the shore too. Round had a good number in 98 & 2000 that should yield some 48+.
