I use the same method you do. Before I start I lightly. Pull on the bristles to remove any broken or loose ones. Then just go slow and pay attention. Although I know I have at least one bait out there with a bristle in it...lol most go just fine

I buy some of the nicer brushes from Michaels. They are a bit more expensive but they last forever. Don't forget to crimp them with pliers!

I get brushes from Blick Art Supply....1/4" is the size works best for my baits...and the longer, stiffer black nylon bristles work the best. They are more expensive, but I re-use mine by soaking them in acetone....I believe its cheaper over the long haul and one brush will last me a few months maybe more if I'm careful. No bristle loss with these either.

I make up a batch of epoxy and roll my baits in it and with rubber gloves wipe off the excess. Then I hit it with a torch flame to pop the bubbles. Best coverage I can get is with this method and its super fast too. Of course this is really wasteful if you are only doing 1 or 2 baits. I try to get 10+ ready for clear before I put it on.

Jeremy, Are you sure you don't use silk, because those baits of yours are flat awsome. The snake skins were so unique. My wife was even shaking her head in awe.

I use a .25 cent acid brush from the hardware store also. Brush about 8-15 baits in an hour, then throw it out. Yep, those darn bristles, wish they had white ones for black baits.

I use some cheap 1" paint brushes from Harbor Freight Tools. You can catch them on sale for $6.99 for a box of 36. I tug on them to get the loose bristles out ,but I still get bristles that come out..........you just have to watch and get them off the bait. The good thing is the brush bristles are a blonde/tan color, so they are easy to see on darker colored baits.
