| im looking for a rod for double tens for next year of these manufactures who produces the best (weight, balance, cast-ability, ex.) in these price ranges? or any other suggestions? |

Location: Central Minnesota | I agree with muskyhunter 47. Spend the extra money on a Thorne predator XH. I realize they are much more $ than what you had in mind but I throw anything from 2 oz spinners and buck tails all the way to pounders and big medussa's. Awesome rod and very versatile. Worth the money. |

| I sold my Thorne Bros Predator after using my first few Tackle Industries rods. Get a TI rod and you will be very happy and have $250 left to spend on a reel. They are lighter and more responsive than a Thorne Bros rod. I love my TI rods and now have 6. |

Location: Mt. Zion, IL | St Croix Big Dawg or Premier XHF gets my vote. I have Thorne Brothers extend the handles 5" so the total rear grip is 19" long. This is how all of my rods are. That extra butt section makes it comfortable for everything from mepps to pounders |

Tuscadora has my TI blanks that he can build on as well as Predator, St Croix and a few other great brand of blanks. I know a rod built on one of my blanks starts in the low $200 range and you can build anything you want up from there.

| ive used TI XH, big nasty, and 9'3 xh predator. all excellent rods. right now im using a big nasty and 9'3xh migizi which has been excellent as well. |

customer service and warranty should be your main focus along with weight and handle length of rod.
out of the rod you have listed T.I. would be the better. they are longer 9',lighter 10.1oz for solid blank and have longer handles 18' and cost less. |

Location: Lake "y" cause lake"x" got over fished | I love my TI rods. Super light. I think mine weighs 11oz if I am not mistaken. I have the 9' XH TI. Best rod I have used...IMO. I owned a sling blade at one point as well. Don't get me wrong I liked it, but I can get 3-4 TI rods for the price of one sling blade. Not to mention TI's feel lighter to me and they can fling those DC10s with ease. I can outcast a few of my buddies who have other brands like St. Croix or reaction strike. Even if I could afford 10 st croix rods, I would still buy 10 TI rods instead
There customer service is unmatched IMO. James goes out of his way to make sure that his customers are happy and does it in a timely matter.
Personally, for the quality and the price I would go with a TI. |

| Sling Blade!
I had the TI XH and felt the tip-middle-section too soft. Also the sensibility isn't what I'm expecting to a bucktail rod.
The Sling Blade has more backbone but a soft tip too. So she handles big blades with ease and throws them half a mile.

Location: midwest | Custom Diamondback built by Dadson's custom rods. Extremely light and throws blades very well. I fished a Slingblade this summer along side of a it and there was no comparison in my opinion. If balance, handle design and tip powers are very important to you and you know what you are wanting in a blank you should look to a custom builder. There are plenty of nice stock rods that work very well, but if you can't find the right action or balance I suggest you look at quality builders that can offer you a choice of blanks from several manufacturers and then build what you want to fit your needs. Several builders I would suggest are Dadson Custom Rods, Frank's Customs Rods and Thorne Bros. If you can make it down to the Chicago Muskie Show in January you can talk to all three and see a sampling of what they have to offer. Bring a reel that you plan on using for double tens and see how the stock big dawg, big nasty and slingblades balance and feel along with a ton of other rods from various manufactures and then make a decision on what feel's best and fits you best. You may go the custom route or find out a big nasty from St.croix is exactly what you wanted, but you won't find anywhere besides a show where you can look and feel all the different rod offerings available and compare them. |

| I love the Long Ranger St. Croix with a Toro Winch on it, but I typically prefer lighter rods than the average muskie nut. Throwing dbl10's feels like bass fishing with this set-up. No kidding.

| I really like the TI 9'XH rod. It took me a long time to find a rod I liked. I dumped my custom sling blade as I really prefer the TI Rod. A good rod can sure make a difference in the 8. |

| Those are all good rods! BUT, There ain't none of them $200+ better than TI rods! If you buy 2 TI rods for what you would spend on the other rods, you would have 2 REALLY GOOD rods instead of 1 !!!! Just my opinion! (and you know what they say about opoinions)

| Predator 9'3" heavy with 2" trimmed off of the tip of the blank. Really throws em and with the 2" trimmed off of the tip has the power to turn up the speed on the figure eight and set the hook hard. |

Location: Denmark | I have enjoyed the 8" 10oz version of the MI Bulldawg series this season, great casting abilities, great action. Much lighter and slick than both TI or St Criox, and I only payed 100$ for it. |

Location: beloit | I have a mike hulbert 9' rod and throw EVERYTHING with it. Its paired with a 400te with power handle, if I had the money to spend on a more expensive rod it would probably be a custom sling blade or a tb predator. |

Location: plant earth | sling blade or big nasty seems to work well for me. its all on the price the warranty the feel and most important your own personal oponion. lots of gear gear out there. where i live is mostly retail store buys or internet not any custom builders. kinda hard to buy a custom rod when u cant test drive all the features you have available when its a internet buy. |

Location: Contrarian Island | lots of options and I think it depends on the application as well....ie. burning them or slow rolling ...burning them requires a stiffer tip imo so you aren't fighting the rod....one of the better ones is the Big Nasty paired w a tranx..put a 16NA handle on that bad boy and you will love it....for slow rolling/night fishing etc you'll benefit from a softer tip....I use a custom 8'9" sling blade paired a Revo Winch w a TE power handle....suuuweeeeet combo and has been the rod I probably use 40% of the hours on the water.... |
