Has any one seen an increase in sucess with having the sun at the back when fishing vs. looking into the sun. Do muskies miss the bait more when looking into the sun and do you have less followers and more eaters?

| I used to fish facing the sun until I went to move to another spot + hit an island at 40mph 'cause I couldn't see from being blinded by the sun; burned out my retinas... LOL! Actually I fish either but have a buddy that swears your shadow spooks fish! Good question though, interesting to see what others have to say.[:sun:] |

| I try not to have the sun at my back as much as possible. I don't like the sun in my face though, so I usually try to keep the sun to the side. I have had many experiences where a follow up turns into nothing after the fish has moved into the shadow. It may be different on really shallow fish that are used to moving in and out of the shadows of trees, but from my experience (one just a couple of days ago) a fish just will get spooked from a shadow in the middle of the lake. |

| I never pay attention to the sun. I usually worry about the wind direction when I work a spot. Everything else is secondary. About the only time that I "play the sun" is when I`m fishing milfoil edges. Then I work in the direction where the sun position makes it easiest to see the milfoil. Beav |

| I've never turned a follow into a strike when figure-8ing in my shadow. Couldn't tell you if there is anything to it, might just be another superstition. But nonetheless, I do what I can to keep from having the sun at my back, especially late in the day when it makes a 10 foot shadow. EJ |

| Muskies are supposed to be sight feeders. Without having eyelids or ears to hold sunglasses on, whenever possible
I try to keep the sun in my face and not in theirs. Very early and late in the day I don't worry so much about it because the sunlight isn't supposed to be able to bend into the water at a low angle (I seem to remember hearing the angle to be 20 degrees or so and less) but reflects off the surface. As far as I am aware the muskies don't carry protractors to measure angles either, so its better to play it safe and keep the sun in your face. |
