On Saturday, October 13th 2012, Dick and Joan's Butternut Resort hosted the 7th Annual Butternut Lake Muskie Tournament. Most of the competing teams reported having several opportunities at legal muskies, thirty four (34") inches or better, however four measurable muskies would be put in the net.

The first team to score on a muskie would be Jason Baratka and Jason Weik at 11:16am when they landed a 35.25 incher. At 11:26am, the team of Chris Vaisvil and John Latall would take over the lead when they tallied a 37" muskie on a bucktail lure. Also popping a 37 incher was Jared Leslie and John Korbel at 12:33pm, unfortunately for Jared and John they would report losing a tiger muskie near the boat about an hour before that was estimated to be around forty eight (48") inches long. Baratka and Weik would regain the lead at 2:49pm with the last fish of the day and the only team to double up for the contest when they scored a 36.50 incher.
