Posts: 410 Location: Wakefield, MI | How are the Salmo's holding up for you? I have a Skinner and it looks awesome but I'm wondering how it will hold up. They say they have a Lifetime Performance Guarantee on their website, whatever that means. Sorry haven't used a Sweeper yet.

They actually stand by their offer. It get's crushed or quits running true send it to them and they will send you a new one . Honest . ( and no,I don't work for Salmo ). I carried around several Salmo's for a few years but never used them until one slow day on the water I finally broke down and put a skinner on. Kinda got a little peeved. Carried that lure all that time not realizing just how hot it was. It turned the day around. ! I'm talking 180 degrees. Since I'm more a caster than a troller I thought I'd check out the slider. (using glide baits is my top ski producer) Order a couple off ebay ,hit the water, one cast ,one fish. I know one fish means nothing in the overall scheme of things but the success has continued. I can't wait to try their sweeper. Thank you for your response .Fish hard n safe. CPR

Posts: 410 Location: Wakefield, MI | I tried my skinner out a few times and had a few follows, I might try trolling it this weekend. I will say they have one of the best looking actions I've seen. Good to hear they stand by their warranty.

Posts: 187 Location: West Metro, MN | I will be interested to get your review of the Sweeper. I don't think it is distributed in the U.S. I have had success with the Salmo Whitefish and perch. My only complaint is that the paint jobs aren't durable, but as mentioned they do replace the lures when they don't hold up.

Posts: 22 | You are correct. It's usually only available in Europe but I managed to find one on ebay on spacdja 's page/store. Super prices on ski lures. I will let you know about the sweeper. I don't know if you have ever used a Salmo slider but it is a killer lure. It's only 4.5" but over 3oz.. It comes floating or sinking. Needless to say the Hell-hounds/puppies are getting jealous. Dogs can be that way. The sliders are allot cheaper also not that that matters. I still buy Kill -Shot lures to hang in my office/fish'n shop. I think I have some kind of lure buying addiction. This is the absolute accurate truth. Starting in the fall I start wading inlet creek formed bars on the river I fish. A few years back I carried all kinds of lures with me. A true pain in the butt. Now, I carry 6 or 7 at the most. Far more efficient. Now I carry only lures I have complete faith in and are multi-multi- multi ski catchers. I fished hard for 35 years at TRYING to catch allot of ski's to learn how to fish smart for the last 10 + years ACTUALLY CATCHING allot of muskys. I know I'm boring you guys to death, I'm old, forgive me. Point of this: try a Slider . (under 15.00 delivered). Fish hard and safe CPR

Posts: 22 | SWEEPER CAME IN FINALLY. I'M GOING OUT IN THE MORNING TO GIVE IT A WORKOUT. LOOKS GOOD BUT YOU KNOW SOMETIMES THAT MEANS NOTHING. I COULDN'T FIND ANY REVIEWS OR VIDEOS THAT WERE DONE IN ENGLISH. ONE SURPRISE TO ME THOUGH WAS THE CLEAR PLASTIC FINS .SAME LOCATION AND A TINY FRACTION LARGER THAN THOSE ON A HELL-HOUND. THEY ARE NOT MOLDED IN BUT A SEPARATE PIECE. OVERALL IT 'S BUILT LIKE A TANK,LIKE MOST SALMO LURES IT'S FOAM FILLED BUT IS STILL PRETTY HEAVY WHICH TELLS ME IT'S WEIGHTED INSIDE.I'LL LET YOU GUYS KNOW MORE TOMORROW.

Posts: 22 | SWEEPERS MAIDEN VOYAGE. I REALLY LIKED IT. I WAS IMPRESSED WITH HOW EASY IT IS TO USE. IT'S A SLOW SINKER AND SEEMS TO MAINTAIN IT'S DEPTH HOW EVER DEEP IT WAS WHEN I STARTED MY RETRIEVE. SEEMED TO WALK THE DOG PRETTY GOOD EVEN IN MOVING WATER. REMINDED ME ALLOT OF A RIVER MANTA. THAT BEING SAID, IT'S NO SLIDER OR HELL-HOUND.TO PUT IT PERSPECTIVE, IF WHEN GOING FISHING I'M PACKING HEAVY, THE SWEEPER MIGHT BE INVITED. IF PACKING LIGHT, NAW, DON'T THINK SO. A COUPLE THINGS I FORGOT TO MENTION , WHEN SINKING IT DOESN'T HAVE THE LITTLE MOTION THAT ALLOT OF GLIDERS DO AND IT CAN'T BE STRAIGHT CRANKED OR TROLLED LIKE SOME GLIDERS.

Posts: 22 | It would seem i'm talking to myself but anyhow I made a big mistake with my first review. Went out today , thought I'd retry the sweeper. Yesterday I used a flo. leader with a stringease stayloc snap. Not bad but not the greatest results. today I used single strand wire and a split ring. Been doing this a long, long time.Yesterday I just got lazy. The lure worked great. Subtle realistic belly roll. It even does the walk the dog on a straight retrieve. This lure will have a spot right next to the hell-hounds and Amma-bama's.
