Posts: 1405 Location: Detroit River | cast4musky - 10/8/2012 12:20 PM Well thanks Guys I Did It........ I Just bought a New Evet MXJ5.8MC-LH. The Silver true left hand reel with cast assist (MC). It really looks nice and looks to be exactly what I was looking for. I just could not see spending $500 on a reel just to throw big blades, and Big Rubber....Spent $199.00. and put the extra $301.00 in my wallet..... My wife is proud of me........ Thanks again for the advise Mike Sr. Where did you buy that for $199? That's cheap.

Cast4musky, The pinion bearing will start to get a growl after a period of time. I had Avet send me some extra pinion bearings. My Avets are medium quiet until the bearings start to wear. It is a 10 minute switch out. Even so as stated the gears and bearings are heavy duty and naturally more noisy. I absolutely love the reel so I have no interest in trying another brand. Also, while I am right handed, I prefer a left handed reel for optimal control and castability when using bucktails.

Posts: 4343 Location: Smith Creek | I like mine, use it for rubber and burning blades, no need to guide the line on with rubber. It's loud, driving home on dusty gravel roads is the cause I think. Funny thing with this reel is when you take it out of the box it's a little rough, but the effort to reel doesn't change whether your burning 10's or just spinning the handle without a load. Got mine from Tackle Direct. Didn't pay much at all for what I got.
