Posts: 125 Location: Barnesville MN | I have an 07 1700 fishhawk and I use Folbe rod holders and use the side mount. They seem to work just fine. Chris

Posts: 3242 Location: Racine, Wi | Put a rail or track on it. I have rails on mine, then put the down easters (or Folbe's or whatever you prefer) on the rails. However, if I did it again, i would put tracks on it. Easier to get my cover on if I would have used a track system, sits down and out of the way, easy to get your holders on and off of the track (verses having to unscrew the mounts on the DEs). That's on a 1750, but I assume the rails are similar from what I remember of the newer models.

Posts: 833 | I second what Tuffy1 is saying. I put Folbe's on my 1750 with the side mounts. It works, but you do not have the range of angles you will have with a rail mount, which makes trolling some baits a challenge. Rails and the cover will be a challenge.

Posts: 422 | I have Ram and Scotty's mounted on my 1850. I put the mounts on the inside to keep them off the top of the gunnel, and the mounts fit really well that way. I have no issues this way.

Posts: 3242 Location: Racine, Wi | With my cover, I don't have issues getting it over the rails, but I do have to take the holders off to get it on, or it would rip in a heartbeat. The only reason I would go with tracks if I did it again, is to be able to remove the holders quicker. Not that it's bad taking the DEs off the rails, but I'm sure it would be much faster to take them out of a track. Rails definitely work, especially for adjusting the rod angle when trolling quickly.

Posts: 833 | Per what Tuffy is saying, that is why I would go for the rails. I think, if I am not mistaken, you could use a Folbe mount, and that should solve the easy removal issue. The Folbe holders are great product. You will not have a lot of give in terms of horizontal space on the gunwale, but you could set the rail in a bit to help with the cover issue. Only way to really know would be to get out the measuring tape. I fish in MN so I end up not using the holders all that much. Wish I could deadstick, but it is either illegal or extremely boring.
