Subject: Revo toro winch or Lexa?

Im trying to decided which one to get for throwing bucktails and small crankbaits. I was leaning toward the toro winch but dont know if the 4:6 gear will be fast enough, on the other hand the lexa has a 6:3 gear but I was thinking it might not hold up as well with the tall gear. And the lexa is a new reel so I havent much about it as far as durability. Any input is apreciated. By the way I can get the toro winch for $200 or the lexa $160 so all other things being equal Id opt for the lexa.

I have a winch and it has only one purpose - big blades. Its far too slow for much else except a hawg wobbler or creeper.

The winch can actually handle a lot of baits. I use it for blades, topwaters (pacemaker, topraider, etc), depthraiders, and slow moving dawgs or other rubber. I really like it for night fishing as it forces ya to slow down.

Anyone have anything negative to say about the Lexa? Whichever reel I get will be my main reel and Im just not sure the 4:6 is fast enough.

Curado 300EJ. You can do just about everything with it. Even 10s if you don't want to burn them.

Plus, it's a Shimano...hard to go wrong there.

The Lexa comes in 6.3, or 7.1 gears, great for baits that don't pull hard. but the Toro you can get in 4.6, 5.3, alot better all around gear ratio then a 6.3:1. Get the winch and if it is to slow just order a set of 5.3 gears from ABU and install them.

I would opt for the winch, if you don't like the 4.6 gears you can always switch them out for 5.3, after I posted this I saw Pikemaster beat me to the punch haha

Whats the advantage of a power handle other than personal preference? Also someone suggested the curado 300 which is a 6:2:1 gear is that an all around good gear or would that be to high. This is my first high end musky reel and I want to make sure It lasts since Ive had such bad luck with cheaper reels.

it works great for me.  the only thing i would not use it for regularly is big blades (10s and up) or really hard pulling cranks.  You can use it for 10s if you dont want to burn them, I just have another reel I use for that

I just spent a week on LOTW and used it for just about everything (hawg wobblers, weagle, prop topwater, small blades, ripping minnowbaits).  It is a great reel and built very well.

How difficult is it to swap out the gears? I have a 4.3 that is collecting dust and set up on a sucker rod as it is to slow for my taste for blades

So you have a Winch in 4.6 and you want to go to the 5.3 ?
