I want to buy a tiller boat (big Lund or Ranger) but due to a spine fusion, I need power steering/cruise control. Has anybody used a Mercury 175 with power assist, or other brands. Does it really help? Which brand is best. Thank you.

My buddy has a 115 Yamaha on a 620t and put the Titan assist on it this spring and I think it makes a huge difference! I owned the same set up with out power steering and there were times it really sucked on long runs or strong crosswinds.

The Mercury/Mertens power steering is effortless to use.

Tuffy 2060T, 175 ETEC with the Mertens.. handles like a dream, easier to drive than a 25 horse on a 14footer! Tiller is awesome! 48mph ain't bad either...
