So, i was just curious to see how many musky's were put in the net with jointed lures as oppossed to the straight running lures during the fall? I seem to always have some jointed ones with me on the boat but they never come through in the fall.

I don't have near the amount of trolling experience that some do, so I'll be interested to see some responses here. I run about a 50/50 mix of jointed vs. solid, and I catch about half of my fish on each. Come to think of it, that pretty much mirrors my experience while casting cranks as well. Kinda tells me that good lures are just good lures.

Out east many run straight baits in the fall and more jointed in the summer. Jointed tend to imply speed even if they are not going that fast. Some very successful trollers do well with this. I tend to run both all the time. BR

I like jointed in cold water and slower speeds. Some use a Quebec Train which is the largest size quickfish or flatfish conected to the largest size jointed which gives you a triple jointed lure with frantic action at real slow speed.

For me, I would also have to factor in water clarity. If it's murky water, I'd go jointed.
