I am not very familiar with the Tuffy brand and would like some opinions from people who know a lot about them. I do most of my fishing on Lake St. Clair. I like the style and setup of the Tuffy X-190 since it has a ton of room. My only concern is how would it handle big water. Anybody fished big water with one of these boats?

Good Fishin'!

I've been on LSC a few times. It can get pretty riled up. The X-190 will handle just about any conditions there, but my choice would be the 1890 Deep V. Virtually the same amount of room, and the comfort and security of a Deep V.

I fished Lake Winnebago lot, which is similar to LSC. Large, relatively shallow lake that can really get rough in big wind. Never had a day I couldn't/wouldn't go out in my 1890. But there are some days I wouldn't want to go in the X-190.

I've owned a handful of X-190's since the boat was introduced by Tuffy and I'd agree with Shep 100%. If you spend that much time on LSC, I'd probably look to the 1890 myself. If LSC was a couple times a month deal for you it would probably be fine but LSC from my understanding can be a lot like Winnebago like Shep stated and I don't think that's the boat I'd want to be out there day in and day out with. Awesome boat but not a everyday boat for that water imo.

it is my third year running mine and I still watch the days that I go out on the Bay of Green Bay. Otherwise it is a great boat with lots of room and comfortable to fish out of.

I have had my X-190 on St. Clair several times this season and it handles the water just fine. If any of you were out there for the opener, it was SUPER windy and rough out there...I spend 3 days out there in that and had a great time fishing...my guys even commented several times how suprised they were how the boat handled so well in the rough stuff. I personally wouldn't be timid about running that out there...as I will be in mine all fall with the big north winds. Plus, if the waves are bigger then 4.5 ft what boat are you gonna be able to stand on and cast? I've had this boat on Mille Lacs and St. Clair in both 4+ footers...it is a handles the waves just fine and you stay dry!

That was my thought as well...if waves are too big for the boat I probably dont want to be fishing in it anyway!
