| There is a lake by my house that has about 250 Tiger Muskies stock in it every 3 years, the water is pea soup green in the summer, and is a 14 foot bowl with a very thin weed line. Today when I was out sunny fishing I had a MASSIVE Tiger follow my sunfish into the boat and it got me kinda excited to try this lake when it finally cools off a little bit.
How would you go about trying to catch these fish in a pea green, bowl lake, full of little sunnies? |

| You might try something as simple as the Rapala Super Shad Rap in a bluegill finish, if there are gills in the lake. But I would exchange the nickel colored hooks for bronze or steel. |

Location: Racine, Wi | My parents live on a private lake that used to be loaded with tigers. The lake isn't really a bowl, but has some areas that are bowl like. I found that many times (especially in late August), the tigers would move SUPER shallow, and we would night fish them with mepps musky killers and absolutely hammer them (right next to shore). That's one option. The other way we've done well, as Steve said, is by throwing spinnerbaits over the shallower weeds, and even topwaters or shallow dawgs used as a topwater (the older shallow dawgs worked well for that, as the tail was a bit more stiff and "slurped" the surface nicely).
Didn't get many out suspended, most were related to the weeds or cribs. But the one thing they all had in common is most were caught pretty shallow. |

| When they first statred stocking tigers in Silver Lake Wi (Kenosha County) it seemed the best time to find and catch them was during the hottest weather, shallow, and often in the middle of the night. Strange fish. |

On certain lakes and in certain conditions pike will actually feed at night. Usually very clear lakes or lakes with lots of daytime boat traffic. I have a couple local lakes where buddies of mine and myself can catch pile after dark.

Ok back to your question, hey thanks all for the mail some funny stuff! Oh yeah, pea soup, 14',,,, bowl.... Okay Mr. Nolan heres the deal, it's highly unlikely its a "bowl".
There has to be something that the bass use to migrate to the shallows and you need to figure out where that is. No doubt a little lake or pond like this can be tough but think about Florida lakes and how a muck line to clean bottom transition is key to big schools of big bass. The same is probably true on your lake. The fisherman must develop a keen sense of a structure situations that will produce and areas that will not. Never put your faith in a lure! Go to "where" they are, never wait for them to come to you unless you know for sure you have a productive spot or area.
