Shelf clouds usually associated with outflow dominant storms where straight line winds and heavy rain follow right after the storm interacts with warm air.Wall cloud is at the base of a supercell with potential to rotate counterclockwise and possible funnel /tornado if the right conditions persist. Back to lightning .. cant say i have been caught in it,always on top of weather conditions. |

Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | K- I take it back, its not a wall cloud - the photo has the wrong viewing perspective to accurately determine that. Still you need to run like hell! Straight line winds of + 60 mph are no fun either. Are we polishing mouse turd's here? Get off the water!

Yep. Both of those are shelf clouds. They're most often found attached to wall clouds. |
