Location: Sycamore, IL | I am starting to plan an October fishing trip to Minnesota and am looking for some suggestions. Here is what I am looking for:
1. A chance for a BIG fish.
2. Good pike and walleye fishing.
3. Resort/ cabin type situation on the water with docks and electric.
4. An area that has some smaller water near by in case of high waves.
5. Scenic.
6. Inexpensive.
Also, if it makes a difference we will be primarily trolling. Thanks!

Location: Maple Grove, MN | I'd also add Mille Lacs and Leech along with Cass. For big Pike, Muskies and Walleyes, it would be hard to beat Mille Lacs. Of course, there aren't any other smaller Muskie lakes real close to Mille Lacs. Whereas there are many smaller Muskie lakes near both Leech and Cass.

Location: Cave Run Lake KY. | ASTEFFES , Said it twice Cass Lake. All good lakes all around there, Lake BEMIDJI for one and I would spend at least two day's on Plantagenet Lake. Marv |

| Easy answer: Vermilion!! Cass is nice and so is Leech, but if it blows you will be pulling your boat and trailering to another lake. I'm assuming that "on the water with docks/electric" means you would rather not pull the boat. Vermi has great multi-species fishing and, if you stay on the west side, it's fishable in all weather conditions. Check out Whispering Winds in head of lakes. The Johnsons are good people and can put you on multiple species...plus its pretty affordable! Vermilion Dam Lodge and Spring Bay Resort are top notch and you will not go wrong with either, but you will pay a little more. Good luck! |

Location: Minneapolis | I would not recommend Mille Lacs if scenery is one of your goals. Also, leaving your gear in the boat at the dock is not such a great idea at most places on Mille Lacs. The fishing is great, though.
I've never done very well on pike on Vermilion, but that's probably just me. I have done very well on big pike at times on Cass, and done well on muskies, too. I've also had my behind handed to me on Cass in October. |

| Sping Bay is #1 Go to the fall outing , it is a great time. If you are lucky Jerome might tell a fish story at the camp fire. Lots of very good fishermen there and plenty of info passed around . If you are reallly lucky I might tell a fish story |

| if you want scenery Miile Lacs aint it,,, It almost qualifys has a metro lake now, we do it from the TC in a day
vermilion A+ scenery and so many bays that you can get out of wind pressure not has bad has summer but still boats,,,bonus 'grouse Hunting' and a cassino
Leech lake area offers may waters and the report is the walleye fishing has been great now that they have a handle on the cormorants- ,,smaller lakes like wabedo,little boy,baby,and many others,,,BUT your fishing for natural repo muskies which means less per acre
