Ok, a lot of guys have been suggesting I take a look at these for my new rig but I can't find a pic of one anywhere! I looked through Rangers new catalog and on the internet but can't find what they look like??? Where can I see one and get the specs on them?

Thanks....

These are all discontinued models.... only way to get specs and photos are from OLD material that previous owners may have kept.

I have a 681 and have a 2002 catalog that has the specs for this boat in it. If you can't find one... let me know and I will try to get you what you need.

Check out walleyecentral.com's classified's, and you will see just about everything with pictures. There are pictures of a few 681's along with what are looking for if I remember correctly. Not sure about exact specs though. I know the 681 VS is 17"8, and many rangers today are based upon their numbers. 618 - 18 feet, 619 - 19 feet and so on.

PK,
If you have any of Saric's video's, in Musky Hunter Tactics he is in a 690, the only difference between that and the 692 are dual console.

Here is the best one with layout pictures and dimensions of the 681 I could find for you, click on the underlined. Ranger 681vs

Here are some pics of some used 690's from Frankies in MN, one just in your price range. Frankies

Hope it helps.

PK,
On walleyecentral.com they have a 1999 690vs under Tyson Keller, it's a 1999 with two mercs and it's on 17k. Take a look it has pics and looks to be a nice boat.

Here's the Link, Tyson Keller 690

PK,

If you want some of the specs on the boat like length, width, and weight go to the boats section of www.nadaguides.com.

PK,
One thing to think about with the 690/692. Your truck can not safely tow this boat. My buddy's got one and with a Tahoe and it's still a pig on the road! All of the larger Rangers will require a V8 and some weight to pull safely/comfortably. I sold my old Exploder after only trailering my boat once and realizing the vehical, while remaining in the "recomended" towing rating, didn't pull/stop it safely. Remember, just because you can get it rolling, doesn't mean you can get it to stop [:0] .

Just something to think about.

Treats is correct on probably needing a full size vehicle of some type on most all bigger rigs.

However on the "stopping" issue.

Every one of these models comes with surge trailer brakes from the Ranger factory. You pull a rig with trailer brakes once and you'll never go back to not having them...

I have no problems my 690 pulling with 1/2 ton Chevy. In fact it trailers/tows better than most of my previous boats. Tongue weight is about 160lbs. and it doesn't work/bounce on the hitch at all.

Change in gas mileage on my truck is about 1.5 mpg less than without the boat. Without I get 16-17 with the boat 14+mpg avg.

You probably could get away with pulling one with the Vortec V6 Chevy makes but pulling a steep hill would slow you down.

The 690 weighs 1600lbs. without the motor, the trailer weighs about 250-275lbs. I suppose total package with gear is around 2500lbs.

Good luck....

Yep...already thought about that. I will probably just buy an older used truck with a V8 to use as a tow vehicle. My truck has a 4.0 V6 and is rated to tow up to 5000#'s but I only really would feel safe towing half that and less if I had to pull it up that hill at the Cass Lake landing[;)]

As for right now I'm completely captivated by bass boats! I really want to drive one and know if I do that will be it and I'll have to buy one. I've been looking at every make of bass boat and still can't find anything that looks and feels better made than a Ranger? I've looked a a Ranger 175 something(can't remember the the letter after sx,vx?) with a 125merc that was really nice and I looked at a R61 with a 90hp merc that was only 16'3" but was a really nice and affordable boat at $15,000 b/m/t +Minnkota bow mount and Garmin electronics. There is a used R61 for sale on this board for $13,000. There are also a ton of Ranger bass boats out there used in my price range, and it seems to make more sense to buy used and save myself a bunch of $$. I did get to ride in Randy Thompson's Esox Mag Saturday on Tonka and have to say as far as fishing comfort and room to move around it was great, the only thing that would make it hard to buy a E mag is that I would have to buy a used one to be in my $$ range and I don't want a tiller boat but it's next to impossible to find a E mag with a console.

PK, Beware of buying a new R series in the smaller sizes. I've heard horror stories of people trying to get a halfway decent resale out of them. The people I've talked to who've owned them we're unimpressed with how they took waves and chop. I don't have 1st had experience, but hear something a couple times from every person who has experience with one and I start to believe.

Just looking out for you bud.[;)]

I hear ya Treats....wouldn't buy one new. I'm really looking for something 17-18' and lightly used with a 90hp min.

I've been looking at glass Bass boats and Tuffy because of the all the room you get with those kind of boats. For what I'm looking to spend I guess I could get a really nice tin boat like a crustliner,or a bigger Lund.
