I think my on board charger took a crap. It's a cabelas model, 24 volt charger, I think a 10 amp. It lasted 5 years, which I'm not sure what to think of that, was hoping for a little longer.
Before I buy a new charger, what kind of cahrgers are you guys using, and how long have they lasted you.
Thanks,
Jake

I bought a Dual Pro about 5yrs ago. I had one bank of the three go bad late last year and sent it in. They put all new guts in the housing for all three banks and charged me $60. Good customer service and fast turn around. The original unit was a factory re-conditioned one I ordered off their website. It was considerably less money, and a fair warranty. I would do it again if I got another boat.

I've got the original Ranger charger on my '96. Anyone know what the lifespan is on these? How can I be sure it's working right?

I use a Guest charger that has been fantastic. I suggest dual pro or guest. Probably 2 of the best out there. Heard that minn kota is decent but they are very LARGE and very HEAVY compared to the others. I looked at them and the 2 bank model would have filled up nearly the entire storage area i was mounting it in. The guest 2 bank 10amp per was less than half the size.

I just blew mine on my 692, possibly from the AGM's. I know there is a setting on the new chargers for them. As long as the lights are on the charger it should be working properly, can also check with a volt meter.

I also had a Cabelas version Pro Mariner that lasted about 4 years before it went bad. It was the cheapest 3 bank i could find at the time and by the reviews that sounds about normal.

Looking for a new one again, looks like the Minn Kota or Dual Pro are getting the best life span.
