Got me a spool of 80lb floro from Rollie and Helens. Did a test yesterday - wanted to see how tough that stuff really is.

Took me 8 minutes to chew through it.

Pretty tough stuff.

Ranger, I use it on my trolling reels. It is very abrasion resisitant. How did it work casting? How is the line memory and what brand did you buy?

The first flouro I bought was a bass pro brand but after a season it started coming apart which had to not be 100% flourocarbon. I have stren on them now which says 100%, so far so good.

Todd, it's not line, it's strictly leader material (I think). 25 meters costs $45! Very expensive. "Climax" is the brand name. I plan to make a bunch of 20" leaders with it. Maybe a couple longer for trolling. Haven't tried it yet, though.

I wonder if weed-wacker line would do about the same trick. I know guys are using it for downriggers these days.

You would be better served looking on ebay and buy seaguar brand fluoro IMO.

I use seagar for my trolling and casting leaders. My trolling leaders I use for both trolling and suckers. I have had many musky roll on them and no failures.

I cast with 40# fluoro leader material. It's the toughest darn line I have ever used. I spray the spool down with reel magic from time to time . Got no complaints, but big fish. As far as abraision resistance, nothing even comes close. I never tested the break strength, but I bet it's almost double.
