I was just wondering how many hours you guys spend on a typical day on the water muskie fishing? The last couple years most of my trips have been between 5-6 hours, my typical trip was from 4pm to 10pm. However, after moving I plan on fishing almost all day since I wont be able to get out as much. Also, what are you're preferred hours of fishing? I would imagine it can get pretty warm between Noon and 3pm...

It's the thing I most like to do, so when I have a day when nobody is keeping me from doing it...I'm fishing from first light to almost dark.

If I could have it my own way, I would do it like I did this past Saturday. Fish from 6ish until 11/noon, and then again from 4-dark. Usually, my trips consist of 4-6 hrs. I used to do 12-15 hrs on the water, but man, does that wear you out! Especially a hot day in July or August.

Usually around 5am-noon, come in for a few hours and back out from 5pm-11pm. Unless I'm on vermilion for the m1st outing in which last year I think I slept a total of 16 hrs in a week.

3 to 5 hours on a work day (morning), and up to 13 hour days on the weekends. If it's really hot out I'll take a break and "old man" it in the garage with a beer and some brats mid-day, then go out from 5pm until dark. Fall I fish all day long if I can, typically 8am to 5 or 6pm.

Weekly I try to put in about 30 hours of fishing.

That is kind of like the question that asks "how many doughnuts does it take to circle the earth?".

Sun up to sun down on the weekends when I can. The first couple all day sessions were tough, but now I enjoy it. If it's slow I will just switch lakes once or twice throughout the day. As long as I'm moving fish on somewhat of a decent basis I have no problem chuckin' baits on the same body of water all day.

I used to stay out forever on the water, I now plan time around windows that predict better opportunity. I typically fish 2-4 hours during prime times. BR

I would say I am on the water between 3-4 hours during the work week usually from 6PM - 10PM.

But if it is on the weekend then it is one hour before sunrise till roughly 1 hour after sunset... and maybe a lake side bar trip in between for lunch and cold brews.

I prefer to go in the morning. right when the weather is nice and crisp and there is no one else on the lake... (at least where I fish)

Being a full time employee and full time dad - sets up goofy hours for me, typically get out when I can and it's usually 3 to 4 hours, sometimes less and rarely more then 6 hours at a time, unless I have left town specifically to fish, then it's until I can't take anymore.

That just about sums it up.

I average one weeknight a week, usually 6PM to 11PM. Got to love Metro. Weekends are ususally dawn until just after lunch or mid afternoon to 10PM or 11PM. All family dependent.

About 5 hours. Usually between noon and 5PM. That's all my schedule allows except for my annual fishing week vacation.

It depends on where the lakes are.
On the suburban Milwaukee lakes I get about 5 hours early and/or late away from the crazy boat traffic.
Away from the crazy lakes, I limit my fishing time only when I am awake!

Typically there's two best times to fish..."when it's rainin' an' when it ain't!" *g*... - an old fly fishermans quote.

I like 5 a.m. to around 9am and then again from 6 pm till around dark-thirty. I fish alone much of the time so I'm not fond of fishing after dark.

Jeremy.

on a weeknight after work i try to get out and fish for 3-4 hours, then weekends i shoot for 3 hours in the morning and 3-4 hours at night. i skip tuesdays every week cus of a musky league. so that adds up to about 24-30 hours a week, which still leaves me enough time to take care of general errands/chores/other things required for survival, haha.

About half the time I have a full evening or morning to fish and then its usually 4-6 hours. I also have a lot of outings with only 2-3 hours to fish and get maybe 2 or 3 whole day outings (8+ hours) each year. The funny thing is those 2 hour outings are often the most productive and the whole day outings are often the least productive. Go figure.
