Posts: 1270 | It's hard to beat a good old Ugly Stik for trolling and runnign suckers. I wouldn't use one for casting but the 7' heavy action with the Carbaloy tip works great for what you are looking for and it's only about $50. IMHO there is no reason to spend a lot on a trolling or sucker rod.

Posts: 944 | Best one i have found is the Musky Innovations 9' Livebait/trolling I sold around 25 of them last year. Its great for trolling big baits and is the best rod ive seen for setting the hooks on suckers. Jeff Hanson madisonmuskyguide.com

Posts: 4053 Location: Land of the Musky | You are not going to go wrong with a rod from Vince (Migizi Rods). Looked at his rods at the musky shows this year and they are top notch! Now I just need to pronounce his name correctly Real nice guy to work with too. James

Posts: 109 Location: Pewaukee, WI | Thorne Bros. made me a couple of 8 foot glass rods last year and they worked great for trolling larger baits and livebait. The nice thing about having the rods build is you can have them made to what YOU want. Handle length and size, eyelets, rod power and tip action. I wanted the rods to handle trolling larger baits so they took 6" off of the tip to move the power of the rod foward. Talk to Lonnie up there. He knows his stuff. They are by far the best rods money can buy!

James $400 FOR A TROLLING ROD WOW NO #*#* All of our E-glass rods are under $300, custom made with only the highest quality components and come with a lifetime warranty. We build custom high end rods for those that want them. I am not selling a price point rod and have never said such. James makes a great rod for the price he offers them at. He and I are selling to two different customers. I would ask you to sometime take a look at my rods and see why they cost more than an off the shelf model. I have videos up on my website of each model and their components. You will be amazed at the quality/time/effort I put into my line of rods. The reel seat is also a feature not seen on many other rods. It is nickel plated brass and specifically designed to fit into rod holders like the down east. It has a double locking nut and will not strip out or become loose from vibration while trolling. BTW...I will be offering a discount to Muskie First members that will be out very soon.
