I remember watching Greg Thomas' springtime muskies dvd a while back and he was talking about lipless cranks. I recently picked up 1 1/2oz rattle trap for spring and I was wondering if anyone has experience fishing these for muskies? I have fished them numerous times for bass, do you tend to fish them the same way?

Watch the video again. Greg explains how to properly use the rattlebaits. A short summary: lighter rods, light drag, light leader without a snap, 50-65lb braid, and move it FAST. They are extremely effective on southern reservoirs and probably account for 75% of the fish on cave run and lake Kinkaid in February and march.

I have had some good success in early spring on bass size rattletraps. Especially the red tiger and orange craw pattern. I use a 6" leader like the stealth tackle spring leader with a split ring. I also upgrade the split rings and a lil bigger hook. I have caught them ripping the lure, straight cranking the lure and a drop and go and pullup with the rod. ust experiment to see what they want.
