| i recently applied expoxt to my lures using a spray gun and it didnt turn out that great. i think i know what i did wrong, but was wondering if any1 else applied it this way?

| etex brushed on works best for me warm the etex up in hot water then either poor it over the lure or dip it and spread it out wit a brush . then i put the bait on a drying motor to even the coat . |

| musky chimes how do you dip muskie baits in etec? You would waist the hole thing wouldnt you? Its a 2 part epoxy, Do you know something that I do not I am new at this and want more feed back on this is there a way you keep it preserved? |

Location: Muskegon Michigan | Bill Crane mixes up gallons at a time but he refrigerates the mix to slow down the hardening time. He pours hundreds of baits a day off the same mix. He told me he uses a catch bowl and pouring cup His roticery was in Musky hunter magazine about 7 years ago. It holds like 3000 baits. If you heat your mix it will set much faster and coat much thinner. This is fact. I dont like my etex thin as it really gets thin on edges and curves.
There is a three part epoxy that I used to spray on salmon spoons made by Component Systems one part resin one part hardener and one part thinner. On spoons we baked it at 200 degrees for 30 minutes. This stuff is so toxic it should not be available to the public. You breathe it in and it hardens in your lungs. Urethane doesnt spray too bad and is pretty tough stuff. Nothing compares to brushed on epoxy though. Mike |

It seems component systems is gone now. I found an aviation primer/surfacer made by Dupont that is a three part spray on epoxy. I tried to find the link for you but was not able. Just remember this stuff is very toxic needing exhaust fans and respirators to spray. Mike

We used to spray this stuff on spoons. It is tough and sprays nice. Just be advised it is toxic so wear a respirator. Also you must clean your guns with laquer thinner. Mike

| i make sure i have a ton of lures to coat at once . i heat it just enough to run and vacate bubbles but not enough to make it hot . i lightly poor it over the lure then using a brush to spread it evenly across the bait then i made dry with a finishing motor and repeat till the etex is gone . then repeat till the lures are all coated and drying . i only dipped the small baits i make more bass lure size and only if i have a ton to coat , even then i even out the excess etex with a good brush so i waste very little . |
