| Who thinks this will work? I'll be "testing" it out this season quite a bit.. Looking for opinions! Twice the size of double 10s and 14inches long. Blades run perfect and has a TON of pull and vibration. Bait on left is original Double Cowgirl. jakeheuer.com

Location: 31 | I like it! If you really want it to pull hard, take one of those blades off. I caught a 50" last year on a single 16-18, regular overall bait length though. Good luck!

I don't care, I'm not gunna buy one... I like not having surgery on my shoulders and wrists. if this is all the start to bite, hopefully they will get 'conditioned' and we can all go back to dbl 10s. That is just insane |

I have never had a clevise fail... but I have had about 20 of the thinner brass blades (.025) spin off right where it contacts the Clevise. I've resorted to super gluing a small split ring over the hole in the blade before assembling (actually reassembling) it. I can't be the only one having this problem?

| I currently have 5 double 13s w/ only 1 blade left... some are fairly new and blades seem to fall off mine.. the clevis is fine, the blade just comes off
also had multiple hurricane baits break in half at the arm bend. |

I hear ya, the blade in the picture that's just barely hanging on is a 1-month-old x13 supermodel that I purposefully removed from service last year before it spun off. When you disassemble, you'll find that those little clear plastic spacers are destroyed too... just replace them with metal beads and you're all set for another 100,000 miles. I started split ringing the blades at the end of 2010 and none of them have spun off, no issues and the blades work perfectly. All you have to do is slide a split ring over the blade and super glue both sides before reassembly.
FYI, If you're not into repairing... I noticed Spanky baits have the heavier .40 blades that don't spin off, or just drop another $32 plus tax on 5 more supermodels every year. Getting back to the #20... anyone who thinks it's to big, go look at the aquarium pictures thread.

| Made some a few years back, threw and trolled them quite a bit with way less success than 10's and 13's by comparison.
Caught a few fish (very few) on them but not nearly enough to say they were a better mousetrap...not even close. The tens and 13's out fished them at least 20/1 for the time spent and the ones that hit the 20's were right after it hit the water...they would have grabbed anything I suspect.
side note...they pull HARD I keep a couple on hand for young guys who say they never get tired....they do after throwing those for a bit |

Location: 31 | All right then, somebody who actually has some time with a #20… and lived to tell about it. I've read bturg's posts over the years and have a ton of respect for his opinion, particularly for something as mainstream as this. But who is to say this #20 won’t produce this guys biggest fish? Certainly not me, and I always admire somebody who is willing to step out of the pack and try something different. Besides that, I actually have very few hours with d12s and d13s, and I was getting ready to take that somewhat experimental giant single off last year just before the fish hit. I do know that Mic Drury of American Hardwoods has had some success trolling a giant bladed tail… it looked to be close to a #20.
Even though I haven't used x12s and x13s much, that doesn't mean I don't use 12s and 13s, just mostly singles. I can honestly say I have not seen any fish preference between a single and a double… plenty of angler preference though, I'm guessing these days most guys wouldn't even consider using a large single with all the hype on doubles. Heck, I'm even finding it more difficult to use my old reliable single 10s after 20 some years... Addendum; here's the single big blade, double 13 repaired, and a single 10 for comparison.

| Nice. I thought I was the only one. I rarely throw just tens anymore. I have been throwing the dbl 16's made from stainless, copper and brass. They work. Period. If they are wearing you out you are using the wrong setup, and well, the fact is its just the game. Much like 2lb dawgs, they are not made for everyone. Jake, it only takes one bite to start a craze, I'm sure that the first double ten had the same response. I was laughed at when I bought my first super mag glittertail, sporting 13's and around a 20 inch skirt, but it paid off. Anyway, point is it will work. Give it some time and it will pay off. |
