Posts: 2373 Location: Chisholm, MN | I have a firetiger hog wobbler that has seen a lot of action so it has really deep hook rash. It seems to soak up water and not run right. I figure I can just paint over it but is there some special paint I should use? Or should I first seal it, then paint? I don't even care if the color matches. Its the action I want back. Soaking up a little water doesn't bother ours at all. Hot tip - there are some scent products available that will clog up that open wood AND bring a little something special to that bait. Looking at it, seems like the front hook hanger is out of whack, also possible the lip needs to be tuned a little. Check the alignment of the connections between head/tail also. I'd also recommend a split ring on the line tie.

I've caught more fish on this that any other bait I own. Scent eh? I like that Idea! This bait seems to just sink a little too much after throwing it for a little while. She's a squeaker though!

Posts: 774 Location: South East Wisconsin | Kirby if it’s your favorite bait and are worried about it maybe it’s time to retire it? Happened to me with my favorite Pacemaker “oh she’s got some life in her yet” Bam fish on oh WTH just happened awe man broke the bait lost both the money part of the bait and the fish. Still bugs me to this day I didn’t hang that bait up. Haven’t found one yet to be just as good as the one I lost. Ugh… Musky….

Posts: 2373 Location: Chisholm, MN | I have actually been thinking about that too. My plan was to catch a 50 on it and then retire it. That didn't happen...... I should just get another one, but no two are alike either.

Posts: 313 Location: Bemidji, Lake Vermilion | I've retired quite a few Hawgs already. Sorry to hear your favorite hasn't caught a 50 yet Kirby. I thought all Hawgs did in MN was catch 50's! Did Lee not let you toss it on Vermilion on your overnight trips? Nothing they like better up there at/after dark than some "pulled pork!!"

Lee did however give me a look like "what are you doing" every time I thought about taking off "his" favorite bait!!!!!! It worked for me though. The first fish I caught on a hog was a 46" and that is still the biggest I've caught on one. I love the way they eat that bait!

Posts: 149 | I have a hang wobbler that I have never thrown. What's the best way to fish this lure? Steady retrieve?

Posts: 149 | Thanks for the answer, Kirby. I would also like to clarify that I have HAWG Wobbler. Not exactly sure what a HANG Wobbler is......

Posts: 134 | The front lip needs to be pushed back alittle. Almost perpendicular to the body. This will make you slow down and add more of a wiggle to the bait. It is my go to bait over the weeds during cold fronts.
