My 2004 optimax with only 70 hours on it will occasionally stall when running at 30 mph before it stalls it sounds like it revs up. It seems to do it more in a bigger chop. It always fires right back up after it shuts off, any insight on this?

I'd suggest you take it in to a Merc certified mechanic.

I had an older motor on a portable tank that did that right before it ran out of gas. It speed up with a burst of power from nowhere and then nothing. Could you be getting air in the gas line? If you are running alcohol in the gas have you had the hoses replaced yet since the motor was new? They could be breaking down internally, maybe?

Sounds like fuel delivery problems, and since there's no codes from the Opti, I'd guess it's a fuel system issue. I'd start with replacing the fuel line from the t to the engine, the ball might be going bad.

I had a semi-similar issue last season with mine and it was the fuel line getting pinched running 1/2 to wide open throttle. I pulled the line from undre the gas tank and reran it over the the top of the tank. I did have some maintance also when it was done but running good again.
