| I am using egg sinkers to weight my baits. Is there anything better to use. Its a pain in the ass drilling big holes to get the sinkers into. |

| I use a lee melting pot to melt down a bunch of lead at once. Then I pour the lead into 45cal bullet molds. I make around 500-1000 at a time so I dont have to make them often. Then I use a torch and a hand ladle to melt down several 45 cal bullets at a time and I pour it into the bait. I use a step drill bit to calculate how much weight I need based on the depth of the step drill bit.
Not easy at first but when you get going it is a lot easier I think.

Location: Minnesota: where it's tough to be a sportsfan! | I determine which drills are for which baits. I use spray paint to paint the drill above the depth I want the hole to be. Drill into bait, go down to the paint, back out, pour lead. Or as they say in Iowa, Badda Bing Badda Boom
Although if anyone is making egg sinkers, get ahold of me I know a guy looking to buy a pile for his bucktail & Catfish business. |

Location: Freedom, WI | "key the hole" , put a notch in the side of the hole bigger than the hole then the lead flows in. I have used a dremmel and I have used a small drill bit and drilled a small hole in the side of the hole.

Location: Minnesota: where it's tough to be a sportsfan! | My wife of 172 years got me a set of awls from Duluth Trading Co. Basically a sturdy wire bend into a handle with an aggressive hole starter on the other end. This works perfect for making what Roger is talking about. I've used them for allot more things but they are very handy wish they made smaller diameter ones. |
