Posts: 613 Location: Michigan | The gf is moving to Mason City, Iowa next month so obviously I did some research on near-by musky lakes and found Clear Lake is only 20 min or so away. Does anyone know if there are boat rentals on the lake? I found some rentals, but they are more pleasure boats/jet skis and I am looking for fishing boats. Also, are there any other lakes around the area that also have muskies in them? Maybe some smaller lakes for smaller boats?

Posts: 769 Location: Ames, Iowa | That one day tourney is usually sometime in April. What I don't like about that time is it's so dang cool when you're out there. But early spring in Iowa can be a good time to fish muskies I hear- I've never caught one then or seen one then, but I hear it can be good. But I hear that October muskie fishing in the reeds is better. BTW, I have never seen a muskie in Clear Lake, although I have seen quite a few yellow bass and bullheads there. Seriously, I hear there is decent skie fishing in Clear, just a big fat goose egg for me evytime there.

Posts: 24 | There Are two Tourneys this year on clear lake that i know of. June 10th, and September 23rd. Those are affiliated with Heartland chapter 10 Iowa musky team trial. With the reports coming out of the IGL's Clear lake might be the best lake in IA for Ski'

Posts: 121 Location: Plymouth IA | Saturdays in the summer we leave the lake by 10AM. From 10:30AM till sundown it is like one of the old Walt Disney cartoons with Goofy driving most of the boats
