Subject: trolling motor support question

I recently put this trolling motor on my boat with a 55 inch shaft and I was wondering if I should have anything supporting it while im driving it, (wether be on the trailer or in the water motoring to a new spot)

I have a ram mount attached right up by the head of mine to secure it when in rough water and trailering the boat. It saves the mount and body of the motor from taking a beating.
