Location: WI | Other than waterproofing is there a difference? Do the marine's draw any less on your batteries? I have an old car radio and I would be putting it under my council and it would not get wet ever. Hate to put it in and have a dead starting battery 3 hrs. later.
Thanks! |

Location: menasha wi 54952 | No difference performance wise. Marine radios are coated for waterproofing and are made to handle more abuse. Should not be a problem.

| Originally put a car stereo in my FishHawk. Didn't last long. Even if it's hnder the dash, it will still be exposed to moisture. Put a marine stereo in and haven't had a problem since. Going on 7 years. My marine stereo has the removable face plate and a little blinking LED security light. This light will constantly drain on the cranking battery, so i would suggest an inline switch to disconnect from the battery when the boat is not being used. |

| You can get twice the car radio for the price of a marine radio . I've had mine for 5 yrs no problems . Like guest mentioned I would hook it up to main power switch because it will other wise drain on your batterie.
