Posts: 114 Location: Central Wisconsin | It's been a while since I tackled a creeper. I think Mike got me inspired. Ones made of maple and the other popple, I think they turn out well. Thanks for looking. Andy- Attachments ---------------- ![]() ![]()

Posts: 114 Location: Central Wisconsin | Thanks MS... They are a PIA, and Ive burnt a lot more than ive got to work. This is a really slow retrieve bait, looks like a fat, drunk squirel

Posts: 15 | Agreed, well done Dizzy. How is this style of paint job completed? What's it called, lace? Seen this before with Ty Sennett's baits, amongst others http://www.tysennett.com/media/sennetttacklebaits/rryeloblack.jpg

Posts: 114 Location: Central Wisconsin | For the paint job, its actually a pillow case that I spray through. I didn't care for the flowery look that some baits have. This pattern is pretty irregular which I like. Thanks

Wow those are great Dizzy! Nice paint too! Well you really have me inspired now. You also have me a little concerned too, why so many that are turned into kindling? Once you have one figured out, what is it about a building a creeper that is not repeatable? Or was all your scrap figuring out your first one? Thanks Edited by MRichardson 3/5/2012 8:36 AM

Posts: 114 Location: Central Wisconsin | Mike - Wing placement and weighting gets me into trouble, I think I over thought it too much in the past. All creepers are going to wobble and plunk even if you quickly throw them together IMO, but to get one that really sounds good with perfect action (very subjective) is the challenging part. I'm by no means a creeper expert, however these have a sound and action that I'm satasfied with.

Posts: 71 Location: Loves Park, IL | Very nice! I love creepers. They are very tricky to build and get to work correctly.....I feel your pain. Your wings look different that any others I have seen (or maybe just the angle of the photo). Did you make the wings yourself? If so, how'd you do it. I have tried to make wings with no real success, so I keep buying them...would really like to learn an easy way to make them, if there is such a thing

Cool thanks for the info. I like the double topper blade on the black one. My goal in making one is to have the same sound/action of an original LeLure Creeper I have. I retired that bait a while ago when I heard they were a valuable collector’s item. My buddy and I laugh when we talk about the story when we both bought Le Lure creepers one day. We were at Indian Trail Resort having a beer when they were trying to sell us the last of these special LeLure creepers that were no longer being made, so we believed the hype and bought a couple. So we’re inspecting the baits at the bar and I ask, “Well how do I know these are a limited edition there’s no markings on the bait?” The reply was “The number’s on the box” - lol We laughed so many times at that reply. We always thought we were scammed. Well today that lure is beat to death with some nice fish to show for it. It is now retired sitting in its nice numbered box. Posts: 114 Location: Central Wisconsin | Steve, nope didn't make the wings, I got them from Moore's. Maybe a fixed wing would be easier?? Great story Mike. The great thing about collectable lures is that someone out there is making them everyday. We just have to find out who and buy them cheap. Thanks for the comments guys. Andy --

Posts: 615 Location: Madison, WI | Hey fellas, I agree creepers can be a PIA, but there is also a lot of tuning that can be done, some of the first plugs i made were creepers because I loved them so much. here are a couple of pics (no laughs as they were the fouthr and fifth baits i ever made and painted ![]() ![]() MS Attachments ---------------- ![]() ![]()
