| It's that time of year when there always seems to be lots of talk about sucker fishing on the boards.
I must confess....I have NEVER and I mean NEVER used a sucker. Between the..."are you trolling that sucker" threads and Wisconsins rediculous "position fishing" statutes, I've always thought it to be more of a hastle to set out suckers than to just stand up and fire big pieces of wood at 'em all day.
Am I The Lone Ranger on this one or are there other non-sucker soakers out there?

| No Sir, You are not alone. I have used suckers a few times (with pretty fair success) but only when fishing with a guide. When I'm solo on the water, it's strictly wood, plastics, and hair and/or feathers. I really prefer fooling them with artificial baits and really don't take the time to figure out all the legal details of trolling vs non-trolling waters, what legally constitutes trolling or position fishing technicalities. To me fishing (especially for skis) is supposed to be challenging and fun. Chucking artificials is all of that. |

| Put me on the list of non-sucker-users.
Some people get a rush when they hear the clicker. The momentary suspense of wondering what just picked up the sucker really does it for some. To those people I say... GREAT, have fun and enjoy it. It just doesn't do it for me. Same goes for Trolling.... which can put me to sleep faster than watching a tennis match on TV. One man's nectar is another man's poison.
My partners are always welcome to use suckers in my boat... but don't expect me to buy them or tend to the rod.... unless a big fatty is on the other end of the line and you feel generous (ha ha).
I prefer to take my chances and fish without meat.
