i whipped this one up last night pretty quickly,,didnt take much time at all from a-z.

i epoxied the eyes last night after the body dried up some and they wrap up on the sides of the inside of the circle rim so they have a cool 3d effect. i dont have pics of them but i will have pics when the bait is all cleared....with auto clear not epoxy,,,that stuff kills hellhounds action.

too bad it is not mine it is my buddies.... i am doing some baits for him

I've done a couple with a layer of thinned epoxy. They seem to work fine. Definitely not a bait for heavy clearcoat, though. Looks good!

Nice hellhound, auto clear is the way to go on plastic baits.

Seems like they jack up that blank price to keep the custom painters from competing with them too much, more profit on the blank than on the painted lol

Please one time just for me please take your time on paint job. Would like to see what you could if you wasn't in a hurry. Why do you only paint quickly? As for the epoxy clear the 100 some odd Hellhounds I have painted all of them had 4 coats on E- Tec on them and all ran great no problems or complaints. Maybe add some lead. With your knowledge it shouldn't be a problem. Auto clear will flake chip and peel in less than one season. Catch 4 or 5 fish and the paint is gone.

A 2k auto urethane will not flake, chip, or peal. It is what most professionals use. How many cars lose their paint in one year? Duh. Cars are in a much harsher environment.
The paint on a plastic bait with an auto clear will outlast any wood bait with epoxy ten fold.
Auto clear has a much higher shine too
They both have a specific gravity of nearly 1, so that means they're neutrally boyant and should not affect weighting. Only the shape and volume of the lure are affected.

Cars are in much harsher enviornment??? Never seen a Chevy with treble hooks and sure haven't seen a dodge get slammed on a figure 8. Epoxy is fine on plastic, just heat it and it will thin. No need for thick build. Auto clear is fine too, but hook pic and rash will affect it worse. I couldn't resist hahahaha.....will take the wires car to the river tomorrow and drive in for a test cast hahahahaha
