Thinking of getting one of these, and just wanted some info on them. Any problems with any you have used? Can the screen be switched to only sonar or only gps? Anything else I should know would be appreciated.

I'm now looking at an HDS-7, but when I was looking at the Elite-5 DSI, it seemed the Humminbird 597ci HD DI Combo had it beat. Everything the Elite-5 has plus traditional sonar. With the Elite-5, you lose the traditional sonar which in my opinion makes it less useful.

Does anybody own one of these? Good or bad? Thanks nocturnalmotors, not sure I would miss traditional sonar. Was planning on a HDS unit this spring, but found a good deal on one of these.

I fished with the elite 5 all last year, and I am very pleased with it. Yes, you can have just sonar or just gps. My only real complaint except for wanting a bigger screen is that they don't give you the moon rise/set times that most GPS units have.

Thanks Jeff. I would like a bigger screen too, but have used that size for a lot of years and have gotten used to it. If I get this one, it will eventually be my 2nd when I finally get the HDS.
